The Ashevillage Institute promotes urban sustainability through:

Permaculture Design Certification Course at Laughing Waters -- August 21 -September 5


Timeline

2007: Complete house retrofit including clay plasters & paints; get Certificate of Occupancy; shed relocation; establish greenhouse & tent area; exterior grading; complete garottage (adobe out building); design outdoor classroom; kudzu management; site design begins

2008: Establish gardens, compost & humanure; host educational programs; install  courtyard; organize citywide event - Ashevillage Building Convergence

2009: Design & install demonstration site master permaculture plan; host PDC & other workshops

2010: Install edible landscape, host PDC Internship, and other programs


Parent organization

The Ashevillage Institute thanks it's parent nonprofit, Kleiwerks International, an organization that empowers communities to be more sustainable by teaching hands-on natural building and whole-systems solutions. Since 1998, Kleiwerks International has trained thousands of people from 34 countries.
