Walking the talk!

The Ashevillage team, and supporters, have developed a one-acre urban site into a demonstration of integrated ecological systems. We grow food and medicine, capture and use rainwater, and show others how to do the same for themselves! This residential site sits between downtown Asheville, NC and 300 acres of woods. Highlights include:

• A 30,000 gallon rainwater catchment system
• Four  aquaculture ponds with nine varieties of fish
• Aquaponic greenhouse & integrated chicken coop
• Rain gardens, swales, water-retaining earthworks
• Edible, medicinal, and social space landscape
• Composting & vermiculture soil systems
• Bees, shitake logs, worm production
• Natural building & earthen finishes
• Recycled urbanite patio
