Our sustainability programs are led by a community consortium of Asheville’s finest practitioners and local leaders. The goal of of our programs are to inspire participants to walk their talk in their own backyards, neighborhoods and cities.

Urban Farm School
This full-season immersion brings together urban farming enthusiasts with the people, projects and skills to grow downtown Asheville’s first CSA, get certified in Permaculture, and work at micro-farms and nurseries, urban homesteads, an edible park, an aquaponics factory, community gardens, nearby farms, woods and wild places. Dates: May 6 – November 13, 2013. Mondays – Wednesdays, 9am – 5pm

Natural Building School
Apprentice with veteran natural builders on real projects that cover the gamut of natural building, including: adobe, cob, slipstraw, wattle & daub, timber-framing, carpentry, green roofs, earthen plasters and paints, drainage and foundations, bamboo, ovens, and more. Dates: June 10 – October 30, 2013. Mondays – Wednesdays, 9am – 5pm

Local Food Systems Immersions
The Local Food Systems Immersion is designed to support community leaders to relish in, and be inspired by the innovation, creativity, and passion that fuels Asheville’s local food scene. Participants will delve deeply into connecting the dots in one of the country’s most sustainable food cities, share passion and knowledge of thriving food systems, connect with other food leaders, and, of course, enjoy an array of Asheville’s most delectable eateries! Dates: August 19-23 -or- September 14-21, 2013

Bee City USA Immersions
Engage in Asheville’s bee-rich culture! Participants will meet with experts, tour local projects, do hand-on workshops, strategize their own initiative, and eat tasty bee-pollinated local cuisine! This Immersion is designed to support leadership teams from pollinator-friendly communities across the country to co-create a network of sister Bee Cities USA™. Coming in Spring 2014!

Design Your Own Adventure
Ashevillage Immersions provide your group with unique opportunities to delve into a deep learning experience. Choose amongst 200 learning modules, from academia to application, policy to practice, field trips to service learning.Topics include ecological and resilient living, food, water, energy, shelter, permaculture, innovative leadership, community, arts, and more.
