After seeing all the organization and work involved as well as the knowledge of the instructors I feel I got what I paid for and then some. Can’t put a price tag on good health.Food As Medicine Workshop Participant
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.”Buckminster FullerEvery teacher’s passion made their subject matter feel profound — so much so, that every exemplary compost worm, foraged medicinal weed, and bacteria-filled speck of dirt had a voice too — and they spoke volumes. Ashevillage planted within me the seeds I so desperately needed to help me become a proactive citizen of the world and a mindful friend to the earth.Gracie, Resilient Workshop Participant
It was one of the best experiences of my life. Wonderful instructors, beautiful setting and the best brought out of us all. Learning the art and beauty of mixing dirt, clay, straw, bamboo and wood to create nearly any type of structure has been true inspiration.Chris, NBX Participant 2012
One of the most important things about permaculture is that it is founded on a series of principles that can be applied to any circumstance—agriculture, urban design, or the art of living. The core of the principles is the working relationships and connections between all things.Juliana Birnbaum FoxSustainable Revolution: Permaculture in Ecovillages, Urban Farms, and Communities Worldwide
After a week at Ashevillage’s Resilient Living Workshop, I am a changed person. Having been a New Yorker for the past 16 years, I came in with very little knowledge about the field of permaculture, much less any knowledge about growing my own vegetables or living anywhere other than in the thickest of grids. I expected to gain an introduction to permaculture and some skills to get me started, but I didn’t expect to have such a joyful, tearful, heartwarming mind and soul shift.Gracie, Resilient Living Workshop Participant
I have been incorporating fermentation in everything. Just made yogurt cheese to be ready for Friday night’s book club dinner at our house. Everyday I make a new type of dish with some fermentation type of process. I ate a radish salad tonight that I never would have made if not for the class. What I also recall is the fun everyone had, and the good times of being together sharing skills. Good memories.Food As Medicine Workshop Participant
Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?Mary Oliver
Permaculture is an idea whose time has come and Ashevillage is a shining example of what’s possible.Dr. Andrew Weil
Ashevillage is such a beautiful example of all the teachings of permaculture. This is a living example of what’s possible for us to live in harmony with the earth. It’s really inspiring to be here and and to see it put into use and to see the community build something that can be an example for the rest of the world.Workshop Participant
